Posted by STETSON CREATIVE

Sound like the heading of your latest Craigslist Ad? Are you stylish and young and want something more than AXE body wash, but don't want to spend your holiday bonus on skincare? Well fortunately there are some great product out there just for you! You don't need a bathroom full of fancy products to look and feel great! If you have average skin (aside from the shaving and face care we previously discussed, you can get away with as few as two products, which are great!

1. GET CLEAN with JACK BLACK All Over Wash for FACE, HAIR, and BODY.  With everything you need for a healthy epidermis, it contains sunflower oil, linseed extract, pomegranate, olive extract, shea butter, grapefruit extract, and the antioxidant power of vitamins a, c, and e!  This is your all in one go-to wash at a great price for the urban man!

$14 - Jack Black www.getjackblack.com

2. MOISTURIZE with MENSCIENCE Advanced Body Lotion with hyaluronic acid, aloe, and oat and soy extracts.  This lightweight moisturizer provides excellent moisture without getting greasy or sticky, and its unscented!

Use these two products in conjuction with your shaving and facial care regimen, and you will have your daily routine streamlined in no time!

Anti-Aging Tips for Men

Posted by STETSON CREATIVE

A good percentage of men have shown just as much interest in anti-aging regimens as women do, though few actually go through with it because the products may seem to girl-y.  Well gentlemen, you are going to have to get over that REAL QUICK, because unless you want your skin looking like a leather handbag, you should start  with an anti-aging complex immediately and follow these EASY steps (and don't worry, nothing too feminine!)

1. EXFOLIATE.  I can't stress this enough, exfoliation increases cell turnover, and removes dull, dead cells, to create a younger, fresher appearance of the skin.  Using a mild, fine abrasive scrub such as this one from MENSCIENCE is also a great way to achieve a smoother shave.  With Alpha Hydroxy and Salicylic Acid for anti-bacterial, and aloe vera to sooth, this is an excellent way to achieve soft, younger looking skin.

$29 - Menscience www.menscience.com

2.  MOISTURIZE! At least once, if not twice a day.  Moisture plumps up the skin an reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Using one with antioxidant power such at the ANTHONY Vitamin A Treatment will reduce lines as you sleep (Vitamin A is also known as RETINOL, a popular ingredient in feminine anti-aging creams). This moisturizer has a whopping 10% Vitamin A solution for maximum results.

$35 - Anthony Logistics for Men www.anthony.com

While that may be a great evening moisturizer, you will need a lighter one with sunscreen for daytime such as the JACK BLACK Double Duty Face Moisturizer, which has SPF 20 to protect your skin from further sun damage, as well as blue algae and sea parsley which are rich in vitamins a, c, and e (all have antioxidant power to reduce free radicals and help with anti-aging).

$26 - Jack Black www.getjackblack.com

3. EYE CREAM! Don't be afraid of it.  The soft skin around your eyes is one of the first to show signs of aging and the ultimate giveaway of your true age, so stop those fine line in their tracks with Tri-Aktiline Deep Wrinkle Filler by GOODSKIN LABS.  The trick with eye creams is to use them every day and night to reach full potential.  I like this one because you can see visible results immediately and then further results in 4-8 weeks, and its a great price!

$40 - Kohls www.kohls.com

Remember, Stay out of the SUN, QUIT SMOKING, and GET SLEEP to really see an improvement in your skin. Eat a diet high in OMEGA-3 and ANTIOXIDANTS and you WILL SEE RESULTS!!!!

MEN: Getting The Perfect Shave

Posted by STETSON CREATIVE

So what makes the perfect shave? Is it using just the right shaving cream, or using that razor that has 5 blades, vibrates, and picks out your work outfit?

The answer is yes...and no.  The perfect shave is just as much about the process you use as the products.

STEP 1: EXFOLIATE!
Exfoliation before shaving will soften the skin and hair, remove dead skin cells and bacteria, and provide an all around more comfortable, smooth shave while reducing the potential for ingrown hairs.  This is especially important if you have very dark and/or coarse hair. One of my favorites is JACK BLACK Face Buff because of the Vitamin C and Menthol infusion, which acts like a shot of espresso for your face on a tired morning.  TIP: Use very warm water, and don't scrub too hard; gently massage into hair and face, and rinse with warm water.  Pat dry with a clean towel.

STEP 2: PREPARE!
Use a light shave oil on your beard, as it will soften the beard and provide a protective barrier on the skin for a smooth shave.  TIP: Leave this on for 1-2 minutes before shaving for ultimate comfort, and shaving during a hot shower will make your shave even more enjoyable with the steam opening up pores!  Try the Pre-Shave Oil (I love the lavender for sensitive skin) from THE ART OF SHAVING.

$22 - The Art of Shaving www.theartofshaving.com

STEP 3: LATHER !
Using hot water, lather your shaving cream in your hands and then apply to face in a circular motion (many men like to use a brush, but I find this step a little excessive especially if you are short on time.  THE ART OF SHAVING makes an excellent shaving cream which works great with their Pre-Shave Oil and is available with the same essential oils (for the shaving cream, I really like the unscented).

STEP 4: SHAVE!
Using a good, sharp razor  like the GILETTE Fusion, first shave with the grain. NOTE: The grain on the neck mat go in a different direction than the grain on your face.  If you must have a close shave, re-lather and shave against the grain, going slowly to keep the skin from being irritated.

STEP 5: TONE!
Take this step only if you have a problem with in-grown hairs.  If not, please proceed to the next step.  Using a toner will remove a layer of dead skin cells, reducing the chance for ingrown hairs and acne blemishes.  Apply the toner onto a cotton pad and smooth over just shaved skin (it may sting a little).  I like this one from JACK BLACK which has  lactic and hyaluronic acids to sooth and soften the skin and chamomile and aloe to sooth and reduce redness.

$25 - Sephora Stores www.sephora.com

STEP 6: MOISTURIZE!
Companies will try to sell you one aftershave and one moisturizer, and if you are a product junkie, then go for it, but if you are trying to be more minimal, you can definitely use your daily moisturizer as your aftershave.  Look for it to contain ingredients like Aloe, Rosemary, and Grape Seed Extract.  My favorite daily moisturizer is CLINIQUE Age Defense Hydrator because it has SPF15 and leaves my skin baby soft.

So You Prefer The Bald Look?

Posted by STETSON CREATIVE

For whatever reason, you decided that bald is beautiful, but that doesn't get you off the hook for caring for your scalp.  A shaved head still requires specific care.

1. PREP.  You should shave your head at the end of a hot shower when the hairs are softer.  Apply a good quality shave cream such as AVEDA's Pure-Formance shave cream.  I recently had the privilege to to test out this brand new cream (It's not yet in stores!), from Aveda's award-winning pure-formance line which features soothing aloe, sunflower, licorice, and soybean extracts.  TIP: Leave the shave cream on for several minutes before shaving for the smoothest, irritation-free shave.

$18 - AVEDA www.aveda.com

2. SHAVE. Use a good quality razor.  My favorite is the GILLETTE Fusion Power, with 5 blades for the closest shave you have ever had!

$11 - Drugstores Nationwide

3. MOISTURIZE. As with any other shaving (legs, underarms, face), dry skin can often occur, so use a good moisturizer/aftershave.  Also from AVEDA's brand new Pure-Formance shaving system is the dual-action aftershave, which soothes shaving irritation AND moisturizes skin using the same award-winning pure-formance formulations.

$35 - AVEDA www.aveda.com

4. PROTECT. A shaved or bald head has a much greater exposure to the sun's damaging rays, so use a sunscreen with a high SPF like JACK BLACK Sun Guard with SPF 45.  In addition to the sun protection factor, it offers vitamins A, C, and E to sooth and nourish the skin.  It's also water and sweat resistant, so you won't have to reapply.

BRING ON THE MEN(s skincare!)

Posted by STETSON CREATIVE

In honor of Father's Day, this coming weekend, all week I will be featuring tips, tricks, and products especially for men! Whether you ladies are looking for special gifts, or men want to try something new, these are the things you need to know. Men's skin ages just the same as women's do, and smoking, drinking, sun, and stress affect it in much the same way. However, many men look at skincare as an aferthought, which is a huge mistake. The following is a basic skincare regimine that will work for most men:

1. Use a good-quality cleanser. Apply to a moist face and work in an circular motion, and rinse with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel. I like the JACK BLACK Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser, which contains antioxidants to decrease free radicals, and sage extract which works as an antibiotic on the skin.

$18-$32 Sephora Stores www.sephora.com

2. Apply a moisturizer with at least SPF 15. Only a small amount is needed each morning after washing and will protect the skin against the suns harmful rays. My favorite is ZIRH Defend Lotion. It works well with all skin types (even dry and sensitive) and contains avocado oil and vitamin a along with the SPF 15 protection, leaving skin soft, but not greasy.

$32.50 Major Department Stores Nationwide.

3. Shaving: Cream or Gel / Electric or Classic depends on your personal preference, but there are a few things you need to know about shaving properly. First, using a scrub twice a week will remove dead skin cells and make your shave smoother and more comfortable. There are MANY many scrubs out there, but for this specific segment, I am going out on a limb and reccommending a women's skincare product. KATE SOMERVILLE'S Exfolikate is the best scrub on the market today (for men or women!). It contains a laundry list of ingredients to enhance the skin, clear blackheads, and leave the skin bright and clear!

$175 Luxury Stores Nationwide and www.sephora.com

Next, when applying your cream or gel, make sure it is applied over a face that has been wet with warm water. Allow the cream to soften the hairs for a minute before beginning to shave. Take your time, and remember that shaving with the grain is FAR LESS irritating than shaving against the grain. The brand and style of cream or gel, and no one is better or worse than the other really. I have even gone so far to use conditioner for the hair. Save some money here and use a drugstore product like Gillete or Edge.

4. Last, use an aftershave lotion to sooth the skin. Look for one with aloe vera to sooth razor burn and irritation. I like CLINIQUE Post-Shave Healer, with high aloe content.
