Makeup to Cover up (Your Wild Night, That Is..)

Posted by STETSON CREATIVE Wednesday, January 5, 2011

In the spirit of holiday recovery, there are several EASY makeup tips I can give you to make yourself look human again, whether from a weeks worth of holiday partying, or you had one too many martinis at happy hour last night!

MOISTURIZE!
Using a good-quality moisturizer will restore the lipid barrier and promote collagen and elastin growth, which will tone and tighten the skin, the puffiness that is a telltale sign of last night's debauchery! (See Tuesday's post)

PRIME!
Use a light-reflecting primer to brighten the appearance of tired skin.

YVES SAINT LAURENT Top Secrets Flash Radiance Skincare Brush
Contains caffeine to instantly wake-up skin and reduce the appearance of fatigue.  The silky-smooth brush allows for perfectly even coverage!

CONCEAL!
If the eyes are the window to the soul, you better make damn sure that they aren't giving away your secrets!  My secret?

BEING TRUE Protective Illuminating Concealer
One of my newest faves, this concealer.  It contains vitamins E and K to promote cell growth and reduce dark circles.  Start by applying concealer color of choice (you get two) or mix for perfect blend under eyes and over blemishes with a rounded concealer brush.  Then use the illuminating translucent highlighter under eyes to cheek bones, the bridge of nose, and right below eyebrows and blend.

LESS IS MORE!
Instead of caking on the foundation to combat your grey morning after skin, opt for a lightweight tinted moisturizer with a brightening serum as show above to look fresh and radiant.

YOUNGBLOOD Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint
I am still undecided about the skin-benefiting properties of mineral makeup, but I have decided that I absolutely LOVE this tinted moisturizer, which goes on smooth and sheer with a fresh, dewy finish.  When trying to cover up a long night, opt out of mattifying makeup, as it may make you look older or tired.  TIP: Instead of using fingertips, I found it easier to get even coverage with an angled foundation brush,

ANASTASIA Illumin8 Youthful Synergy Shadow Pallete
Keep your eye makeup light and natural with these fabulous shades which actually contain ingredients proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles!

$40 - Sephora Stores www.sephora.com

NARS Eyeliner Pencil in Parrot Cay
This mint green eyeliner used inside the water line on the lower lid will counteract redness and brighten up the entire eye!

$20 - NARS Cosmetics www.narscosmetics.com

REMEMBER, these are great tricks for a quick fix, but there is no substitute for a good night sleep!!!
