Kiss and MAKE UP??

Posted by STETSON CREATIVE Thursday, June 17, 2010

In my world of drag queens and transexuals, boys wearing meakup isn't even looked at twice, but in the rest of the world, opinions are somewhat different. Ever since the metrosexual movement a few years ago, the debate has been surrounding how far will men go for their appearance? Though men have started to dress better, and maintain their skin and hair more effectively, are they ready to actually put on makeup to enhance their appearance? 90% of the time the amswer is no. Men think that wearing makeup is crossing the line to being gay or girly, which is just not the case and here's why: makeup can effectively be used to cover blemishes, even skin tone, and enhance features without anyone ever knowing...it's you, but better! Stars from Pete Wentz to Adam Lambert are rocking the look and you can too!

STEP 1: EXFOLIATE

STEP 2: MOISTURIZE. Mix a small amount of a good quality liquid foundation with your moisturizer. This will even your skin tone without an overly "made-up" look.

STEP 3: USE A TONER

(all first three steps can be found in my segment on skincare Monday June 14th!)

STEP 4: CONCEAL. Using a shade that is the same as your tone or one shade lighter, apply a small amount onto blemishes and blend outward with finger to match it to skin. The best concealer if you want to go unnoticed is YSL Touche Eclat pour Homme. It contains a highlighter to reflect light and is also great for under the eyes.

$40 - Yves Saint Laurent www.yslbeautyus.com

STEP 5: POWDER. If you still need additional coverage, you can set the whole look with a powder. Use a high quality pressed powder that offers "sheer coverage" and a good quality powder brush (do not use the spounge that came with it!). Once you have the powder on the brush, tap off the excess and apply lightly over the face (too much and you will look like you are wearing makeup). Powder is great because it also helps absorb persperation.

STEP 6: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TOUCH YOUR FACE!!!!!

OK, So now that we covered how to wear makeup and still look like a man, let me highlight some additional men's products that are out there.

CLINIQUE for Men
makes a great bronzing gel that is waterproof and can give your face a nice healthy glow.

$15 - Clinique www.clinique.com

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER also has an entire line of cosmetics for men, including cleanser, toner, concealer, bronzer, brow gel, eyeliner, and more. These are good quality products and if you are further interested in persuing men's cosmetics, they are a great place to start.

$10-$60 Macy's www.macys.com

Whatever you decide to do, DO NOT try a product like this:
It Cosmetics ABS IN A BOX for $69. It will end in disaster, I promise!!!
