Next Up: MIU MIU

Another of my favorite fall trends is the colored shadow look.  This look can work for both the office and after hours, as long as you keep it understated for daytime and then pump up the volume in the evening.  This look works best if you have very light features, for a great look with darker features, see GIVENCHY in yesterdays post!

This look from the MIU MIU Fall 2010 Campaign is easier to achieve than you think!

FACE: This is the one time that I am going to recommend using a powder foundation, but your first step is to ensure that your face is thoroughly moisturized or primed.  For powder foundation, I really like MAKE UP FOR EVER High Definition Primer (It comes in tints, which can help with skin-tone correction).  Use your fingers to apply just like you would lotion.  Then, using a good quality powder brush, apply powder foundation, one shade lighter than your natural tone.  Use a circular motion starting with the center of the face for even application. (Try not to use the foam applicator that it comes with) I like DIOR DiorSkin Forever Compact Powder Foundation because not only does it have SPF 25 to protect your skin from the sun, but it stays put ALL DAY LONG!  Finish off with a pink blush like NARS Oasis, which has a slight shimmer to add some glam to your face!

EYES: Though these MIU MIU images are using only one color, I like to do a little blending to really pump up the eye area.  Use SHISEIDO Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio pallets to create the perfect blend of color, or use just one.  For blue eyes, try Opera, brown eyes will look ravishing in Fire, and Jungle is the perfect compliment to green eyes.  Play around and decide the perfect combination for your eyes.  Start with the lightest color towards the inside corner of the eye, and pull on the lid and slightly below.  Then move on to the darkest towards the outer corner.  Use the middle  color to add punch right below the eyebrow line (see photo below).  Finish off the eye with a brown mascara (no eyeliner needed).

LIPS: For this look, keep the lip matte and DO NOT OVERDRAW.  Start with a lip pencil like GIVENCHY Lip Pencil in Light Beige, and fill in the entire lip.  This will keep your lipstick in place.  Then, go with MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Intense in #33 (Satin Fresh Pink), which will go great with the blush.  I know I have mentioned Make Up For Ever Lipstick in almost every face, but it is brand new, and the best lipstick I have ever used: the perfect balance of pigment, creaminess, and staying power.  Omit the gloss and keep this look matte.
